You can make a difference!!
What is the state organization for the arts? California Arts Council (CAC) The mission of the CAC is to make available and accessible quality art reflecting all of California's divers cultures; to support the state's broad economic, educational, and social goals through the arts; to provide leadership for all levels of the arts community; and to present effective programs that add a further dimension to our cities, our schools, our jobs, and our creative spirit. What's happening? In a desperate misguided attempt to balance the budget, California lawmakers are considering slashing the arts. Their target is the California Arts Council (CAC), and reportedly they are confident that voters will not be concerned about losing what we know is a vital part of our lives. The fact that CAC is the last vanguard left in Sacramento to focus on music & the arts is reason enough to speak out. What can we do? As members of the creative community we need to make sure that our state, whose economy thrives on the arts, doesn't make this move.
