NO cell phones, iPods, etc. are allowed. If you have one at school, they must
stay at school in your backpacks in the locked room (15) while on the trip.
We will not tolerate any electronics on this trip!

Who?

All students listed above who turn in their permission slips in time and are passing their classes.

What is it?

We get to go to the House of Blues, a jazz and blues club, and see and hear their house band! We will be "Learning about American History through Blues Music and Art." It should be a very fun and educational experience! This is one of the students' favorites!

What day & time do I go?

All students need to arrive at Newhart at the normal start time and then will leave 1st period at 8:55am. We will return at 1:45pm in time for most of 5th period.

  • Oct. - Ensemble & Advanced Classes

What do the students need to do to prepare for this field trip?

The students need to turn in their completed permission slips in on time (due no later than ?), turn in the green HOB Consent form by ? & they must be passing all of their classes.

What do the students need to wear?

The music students need to wear their Newhart Music T-Shirt with jeans (or jean skorts/skirts) & Tennis (or Gym/Skater) Shoes. It also gets very cold in the venue, so please bring a jacket! The AVID, Art and ELD students will need to talk with your teacher about clothing requirements.

What about chaperones?

We need 20 chaperones for each day. Chaperones are adults over 18 and must be willing to ride the bus. Parents interested in becoming a chaperone must their teachers on a first come, first served basis. We will notify chaperones and give details approx. 1 week prior to the trip. All chaperones have already been notified.

What about lunch?

Students will need to bring lunch $$$. Students will be eating lunch at the Laguna Hills Mall Food Court. Usually students eat for about $5-6 dollars. Please don't send them with too much money. They will need to stay in the food court and may not walk around the mall.

What about a backpack or purse?

All students will store their backpacks at school in a locked room. After the field trip they may retrieve them for their 5th & 6th period classes. Those who need can bring a small purse, waistpack, wallet or mini-backpack (that's like a purse). No regular size backpacks allowed on the trip!


Itinerary

8:45 am - Students will start class in their first period.

8:55 - Meet in their teacher's room. Band & Orchestra in Mrs. Petty's Room (19).

9:00 - Load Buses (alphabetically by last name)

9:15 - Leave for Downtown Disney

10:00 - Arrive at Downtown Disney (Follow the teachers to House of Blues)

10:30 - House of Blues Experience

11:30 - Walk to buses as a group

11:45 - Leave for lunch

12:15pm - Lunch at the Laguna Hills Mall Food Court

1:30 - Return to Newhart

1:45 - GEt your backpacks out of 15 and return to class (Period 5)
